Why You Should Say “Yes” to a Wedding Album

Wedding Album

Modern technology has definitely made our lives easier and things more convenient, but it has also made the act of doing things like, collecting photos and organising them in an album, a bit of a lost art.

In the past, people would take pictures, send the film to the photo studio, wait for the photos to develop, then put them in an album they could look through year after year. It was a process, a surprise (because you never knew what the photos looked like until they were developed!)

There’s nothing wrong with snapping photos using a phone and storing them on a computer. And there’s also nothing wrong with storing wedding photos on a USB drive and flipping through them with a click of a mouse.

But just like reading a book on a tablet is different from reading a paperback, there’s something special about holding a wedding album in your hands and thumbing through the pages. It’s a different experience to reliving those precious moments via a laptop.

Whether you’re a soon-to-be bride or groom or you’re already married and thinking of getting some of those old wedding photos transferred to paper, here are a few more reasons why you should say “YES” to a wedding album.

You Can Show It Off

Your friends and family visit and say they want to see your wedding photos. So you all sit around the computer and click through 800-1000 pictures.

Not so much.

A wedding album gives you something tangible to share. Not only that, your nearest and dearest won’t have to flip through hundreds of random photos. A wedding album is a collection of highlights and tells a story, which is much easier and more enjoyable to digest.

It Becomes An Heirloom

Have you ever looked through your parents’ and grandparents’ wedding albums? Your future children and grandchildren will want to do the same! They’ll want to see what you looked like and what you wore. Sure, you can say you’ll just show them the digital photos, but what if you lose them or can’t even access them due to changing technology? And that brings us to our next point…

It’s A Permanent Record

VHS turned to Blu-ray, vinyl turned to MP3, flip phones turned to smartphones – you get the idea. In 20 years, what new technology will have replaced what we have now? The discs and USB sticks your wedding photos are on today could be obsolete tomorrow. Okay, maybe not tomorrow, but not so long from now.
Don’t risk losing those precious memories to technology. Paper is much more permanent and never goes out of style. With a wedding album, you won’t have to worry about whether or not you can access your photos.

A wedding album is all of these things and more. It’s a storybook (a love story!), a precious keepsake, a family heirloom. You can still have your digital images, but electronic media can fizzle out and just doesn’t provide the kind of personalised experience a wedding album does. You’ll never regret cozying up with your album on your anniversary or showing it to future generations. And once you’ve passed on, your wedding album will serve as a beautiful reminder of your love story.
