Mastering the Veil: How to Anchor Your Wedding Veil

As a bride, you have probably envisioned every detail of your wedding day. The dress, the bouquet, the shoes, and of course, the veil. The veil is a timeless bridal accessory, adding a touch of elegance and tradition to a bride’s look. However, on a windy day, it can become quite challenging to manage. So, how do you anchor your veil under your elbows on a windy day, and still maintain your grace and poise for the perfect photos? Let’s dive right in.

Understand Your Veil:

Before figuring out how to anchor your veil, it’s important to understand its type and weight. Lightweight veils like tulle can float and flutter beautifully in the wind, but they can also be quite unruly. Heavier veils such as satin or lace may stay in place more easily but might not give the same ethereal effect.

The Under-Elbow Tuck:

This is a simple yet effective technique to anchor your veil. Hold your bouquet in one hand, and with your other hand, gently take the the edge of your veil and tuck it under your elbow, securing it against your body. Repeat on both sides. This will give you control over your veil without compromising your elegance. If done correctly, it shouldn’t even be noticeable.

Practice Makes Perfect:

Just like with everything else, practice is key. Try out the under-elbow tuck with your veil before your wedding day. Get comfortable with the motion and make sure you can do it smoothly and effortlessly.

The Back-Up Plan:

In case of sudden gusts of wind, it’s always good to have a Plan B. A beautifully decorated hair comb or pins can work wonders in securing your veil. They not only add to your wedding look but also provide that extra bit of security.

Trust Your Photographer:

As professionals skilled in capturing the perfect moments, we know how to use the wind to our advantage. A breezy day can provide opportunities for incredibly dynamic and romantic shots – think of your veil gracefully floating in the wind. So, even if it gets a little windy, trust us to capture you in all your bridal beauty.

Embrace the Moment:

Lastly, remember that although everything may not go exactly as planned, each unexpected moment contributes to the unique story of your day. If your veil decides to dance with the wind, laugh it off and enjoy the moment. After all, the most beautiful photos are those filled with genuine emotion and joy.
